About DBS Fine Jewelers
Established in 1989, DBS Fine Jewelers is located in the quaint Chesapeake Bay town of St. Michaels, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Owner Aida Leisure’s extensive 40 year career in the jewelry industry has helped to make DBS one of the premier designer jewelry stores in the region.
Aida values the creative energy devoted to the art and design of fine jewelry fabrication. She believes jewelry should be unique, yet versatile – an expression of the wearer’s personal style. Aida has won several jewelry design awards, and thanks to her reputation for superior quality work, she has received commissions from several White House administrations.
As a community member, Aida is well known for her charitable giving. She is a past president and current member of the Rotary Club of St. Michaels. She participated in Dancing for the Dogs, a competition that raises funds for local animal welfare organizations. She has received numerous awards, including Talbot County Business Woman of the Year, and was honored as one of Maryland’s Most Admired CEOs.
The Pearls of Promise initiative was developed by Aida through Silver Linings (DBS Fine Jewelers’ sister store), when she noticed an emerging trend in gift giving, particularly for occasions like high school graduation. Traditional gifts of fine jewelry and lasting keepsakes were being replaced by tech gadgets and less personal objects that quickly become obsolete.
Between 2011–2020, Silver Linings has gifted an estimated 2,000 Pearls of Promise necklaces to every young woman high school graduate in Talbot County, where Aida’s stores are located. Pearls are a symbolic gift for the graduates, most of whom were born and raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, an area famous for the Eastern oyster.
